I was sitting at the office today trying to narrow down what mailbox topic I would blog about today when a friend of mine sent me a link to a question. A woman had seen on TV a mailbox in front of a house and the mailbox looked just like the house.

This question was posted on Yahoo Answers which allows other Yahoo members to answer their questions. This was asked 10 months ago so I’m running just a little late on a reply of my own.I’m guess that since she saw this mailbox in a movie or on TV that she must have assumed they had some special effects guy whip something up. This sounds expensive to me and probably not a route that most of us have open to them. I was surprised that this person had only been given one answer to her question which left her with no options.
The person who answered suggested that she go to a local high school and talk to the shop teacher or the manager of the local Lowe’s hardware store. The shop teacher maybe an okay idea but no hardware store will know about this. It really takes more than someone who is good with a saw and tape measure to make a replica of something. You need someone who is handy with a saw but who also has an artistic touch as well to get the best results.
